Public schools cannot be trusted to properly educate kids.
Worse yet, many of them are indoctrinating kids.
And far-Left activists are openly brainwashing students for one infuriating cause.
Taxpayers in the Bay Area are paying for their children to be ushered into a far-Left indoctrination program that teaches kids to be street activists.
Martinez Unified School District (MUSD)—near far-left hotbed Berkeley, California—is preparing to implement a program called SLAM (Student Leaders’ Anti-Racist Movement) led by leftist radical Lori Watson.
Watson’s Oakland-based consulting firm Race Work would earn over $100,000 over three years to train 120 students in activism to “interrupt systemic racism.”
Watson also calls on white allies to become “co-conspirators” in the fight for social change.
Race Work claims that the students in the SLAM program will “deepen their personal racial understanding and elevate their racial consciousness as they develop the skills and tools to disrupt systemic racism within their schools, communities, and the larger society.”
Race Work also targets white parents who “were taught to be ‘colorblind,’ rather than ‘color conscious.’”
If the proposal passes, Watson would be paid $37,500 for the first year of the program, then $37,000 and $34,250 for years two and three, respectively.
Needless to say, Watson is an unhinged activist.
She was called out for tweeting, “Black people Amerika hates you.”
At the time, Watson was being paid $3,000 per anti-racist training session by the Marin County Office of Education.
Marin superintendent Mary Jane Burke commented, “I reached out and talked to her about those tweets…I’m not going to defend the indefensible. The tweets in my view were not appropriate coming from a person who has worked their whole life around equity and equitable opportunities and building relationships.”
According to Watson’s biography, in 2012 she “earned her Ed.D. from California State University East Bay in Hayward, CA. Her doctoral dissertation topic was, ‘Wow, they care right?’ Making Schools Safe for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Students.”
With Leftism, one cause bleeds into all the causes.
In the neo-Marxist framework, the fight for racial equity ties into LGBTQ activism as well as pro-Palestinian activism and fat acceptance and everything else.
These are the people indoctrinating kids, and they’re doing it on the taxpayers’ dime.
While it’s easy to write this off as a California problem, similar programs can be found all over the country, even in red states.
