The 2024 Presidential election cycle is in full swing, and presidential hopefuls have hit the campaign trail to make their case to voters.
Naturally, some Democrats with large political aspirations are doing everything in their ability to grab headlines.
But, Elon Musk could not believe his eyes after Gavin Newsom made this eye-opening visit.
Gavin Newsom’s latest foreign trip has many political experts asking what’s next
As it stands, the state of California is reeling from a slew of preventable environmental problems, resource mismanagement, out-of-control crime, extremely high cost of living, and an unprecedented homeless crisis.
Meanwhile, Gavin Newsom just made it abundantly clear that he has more than California on the brain, after embarking on a grand tour of the People’s Republic of China.
This visit, which began last week and ended this week, featured a tour of five major cities across the Chinese mainland, culminating in a visit to Tesla’s Electric Vehicle manufacturing “gigafactory” in Shanghai.
According to Gavin Newsom’s official website, this visit to China is designed to “Build on a long history of partnership between California and China, with a strong bilateral foundation built by Governors Schwarzenegger and Brown and the late Senator Dianne Feinstein, as well as the Governor when he served as Mayor of San Francisco.”
So far, Gavin Newsom has already raised some eyebrows, especially after a video went viral of him practically decking a little Chinese kid while playing a friendly pickup game of basketball.
He then stirred up controversy with his visit to Tesla’s “gigafactory” in Shanghai, which is the largest producer of electric vehicles in the entire world.
Although Newsom is a vocal proponent of electric vehicles, he is also an outspoken critic of Tesla’s infamous boss, Elon Musk, who has almost entirely divested from California, citing their restrictive business policies.
What Newsom’s visit to China reveals about his political future
For years, many political pundits have predicted that Gavin Newsom will run for President of the United States following his role as Governor of California.
With California being the most populous state in the union, many claim that he is well prepared to run for President, similar to former President Ronald Reagan who also formerly served as Governor of the Golden States.
America’s relationship with communist China remains very complex, making this visit very important and difficult.
Newsom’s visit to China is an obvious show of strength to fellow Democrats, who will be fighting over the Democrat nomination in 2028.
