Blue states have been bleeding residents.
People are leaving places like California, New York, and Illinois in droves.
And one Democrat governor is using one ghoulish lure to draw employees.
As Democrats move further and further left, they are scaring away businesses and residents who are not too fond of high taxes and regulation.
Others are leaving blue states because of pro-crime policies that have led to more robberies, assaults, and even murders.
State promotions for radical ‘benefit’
In order to ward off the stigma of bad governance, Democrats are hoping that “progressive” social issues will be a draw for residents.
For example, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer wants abortion to be a lure for workers.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) partnered with Whitmer’s office to promote “reproductive freedom” in red states.
MEDC is running ads in red states with messages such as: “In Michigan, all are welcome…Discover the benefits of living in a state that protects your rights…Enjoy your right to reproductive freedom.”
Leftist media are giddy
The Huffington Post reported that “MEDC says it has spent $30,000 on the ads, which the agency described as an ‘initial buy’ with the possibility of more to come. The intended audiences are online readers in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Tennessee, Texas and South Carolina ― a list that’s hardly random, according to Robert Leddy, Whitmer’s director of communications.”
Leddy said that lawmakers in red states “have taken action to restrict people’s rights, or have legislation currently in the works, or have talked about doing so…When it comes to very competitive business deals, this may be the tipping point…Because we are hearing from companies who are saying that, where we are looking, it’s not feasible for the next-generation workforce.”
However, that is not what the trendlines are showing.
People continue to leave blue “utopias” despite these types of ads; both California and New York have hoisted billboards in Florida hoping to entice blue-state refugees to come back.
Worse yet for Democrats, the Left’s radical social policies are also pushing people away.
For instance, a Muslim man fled with his family from Washington State after he nearly lost custody of his child whom public health officials had deemed transgender after a suicide attempt.
The man relocated his family to Texas and got his son off of social media, and now he’s doing well.
Democrats are getting desperate because they have to defend the indefensible.
