From coast to coast, far-left virtue-signalers have seen their bluffs called.
It’s one of the most under-appreciated political developments of the last year.
Yet now Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is worried that Republicans will give him exactly what he has said he wanted.
The far-left has been in a political pickle in recent months.
For years, radicals have proclaimed that areas under their control are “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants.
It was easy to voice that kind of rhetoric but what has proven to be much more difficult for the radicals is leaving the welcome mat out once those invited guests actually arrive.

New York Mayor Eric Adams learned this the hard way as 90,000 illegal aliens arrived in his city in the last year and a half, thanks to Joe Biden’s open door policy at the border.
Last Fall, deep blue Martha’s Vineyard was in crisis mode when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called their bluff.
DeSantis put Democrats nationwide into full-blown panic after only a mere dozen or so immigrants landed in the elite Massachusetts island enclave.
Now it’s Windy City’s turn to put money where its proverbial mouth has been.
Word has come through an aide that the administration of Mayor Brandon Johnson is increasingly concerned that rascally Republican governors will deliver more immigrants to Chicago by bus just in time for the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
While such an act would simply be giving the people in that town what they say they’ve wanted all along, for them it would nonetheless be a bad look.
Thousands of immigrants from the third world just outside of an event that is supposed to show Democrat competence and superior governing skills over their Republican rivals would make some of the precious few truly swing voters swing away from the left.
The fear is palpable.

Cristina Pacione-Zayas, deputy chief of staff for Mayor Brandon Johnson said, “We have to plan for the increase. They’re gonna do everything they can because this is all political, and they want to make the case that Democratic-led cities are not capable of living up to the values that we have.”
She asserts that Republicans want to “topple our operation” and prove Democrats are “incompetent.”
Critics could argue that if the Democrat approach is so superior they would welcome the opportunity to show everyone else how to manage the consequences of the very actions that led to the influx, but it seems that the Chicago Democrats have been afflicted with a premature case of performance anxiety.
The local Fox TV affiliate is reporting that already in just the last week, the number of new arrivals sleeping on the floors of Chicago police stations has increased 6% — to 1,100.
Fifteen shelters now house 6,360 new arrivals and the city now spends $20 million per month to house, feed, clothe and care for them.
If ever there was a textbook case for more “America First” governance these events call for it.
Chicago is already a cesspool of drugs and crime, no thanks to the Democrats.
Given their open borders insanity and the potential political backlash over it, they might want to pack the Pepto Bismol as well.
