Democrat-run big cities are experiencing serious issues.
And crime is at the top of the list.
But the D.C. Police Chief just made a startling admission about crimes in the capital.
Washington, D.C. is one of the bluest cities in the country.
The hard-left D.C. City Council has instituted pro-crime policies that even leftist Mayor Murriel Bowswer thought were a bridge too far.
For example, the City Council wanted to lower the penalty for car-jacking at a time when violent crime is spiking.

But D.C. Police Chief Robert Contee III did not mince words in discussing how to combat the crime problem.
Contee bluntly said at a press conference, “We need to keep violent people in jail.”
This is a simple concept that most Democrats ignore.
They somehow believe that getting violent people back out on the streets as soon as possible will somehow rehabilitate them and allow the community to thrive.
Contee continued, “What we gotta do if we really want to see homicides go down is keep bad guys with guns in jail.”
Homicides have risen 30% thus far in 2023, so pro-crime policies have been a complete failure.
It’s mind-boggling that the D.C. City Council believes now is the time to lessen the punishment for carjackers.
Contee added, “Because when they are in jail, they can’t be in communities shooting people…So when people talk about what we’re gonna do different or what we should do different or what we need to do different, that’s the thing that we need to do different.”
Contee also said that the bulk of the violent crime is committed by repeat offenders.
He said, “We need to keep violent people in jail…Right now, the average homicide suspect has been arrested 11 times prior to them committing a homicide. That is a problem.”

That is a stomach-churning statistic.
The people who commit the most heinous crimes are rampaging through communities, and they keep getting multiple chances.
But the supporters of pro-crime policies are more concerned with the criminals and less concerned with the law-abiding citizens who are being terrorized.

More Democrats might be catching onto the fact that citizens are getting sick and tired of the crime.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot got the big boot in large part because of allowing crime to run rampant.
All of the loony left-wing policies go out the window when people do not feel safe.
