Boston City pol goes on jaw-dropping rant when her radical policy loses in court

Representatives in urban centers are often completely out of touch with middle American values and concerns.

Polarization means that those in political power in these areas drift ever leftward as there simply is no counter to their worldview.

Now, a Boston City pol has gone on a jaw-dropping rant as her radical policy loses in court.

A court decision this week upheld a law targeting the anti-Semitic campaign to boycott Israel.

That apparently didn’t sit well with Democrat Boston city councilor Kendra Lara.

On Thursday, Lara tweeted, “Ya’ll are letting the Zionists SHAKE YOU DOWN.”

She later deleted the tweet.

Lara is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America and aligned with Rep Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) of the “squad” of far-left representatives.

She quickly received blowback for her tweet, with one user saying her language is identical to that used by “neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers.”

After she was called out for her remarks she played dumb and said, “Oh I get it! The use of the phrasing was lost on me but I have been told now, thank you!”

She later said that she was referencing a court’s ruling that upheld an Arkansas law that forbids the state government from contracting with any group that supports the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which wages economic warfare on Israel.

The ruling was seen as a test case for other similar laws that are being challenged by anti-Israel forces in the U.S.

Rabbi Abraham Cooper is associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and called Lara’s comments a shot against American Jews.

Cooper said, “Will the city councilor be held accountable for her slur by her peers, by the media, by the voters, for this screed? Why would a local politician in Boston get worked up over an Arkansas court upholding anti-BDS laws—an important tool to fight back against anti-Semitic BDS? Maybe because she hates ‘Zionists’—read Jews.”

It does seem curious why a local Boston city councilor would chime in so publicly on an issue that doesn’t seem directly related to her constituents.

There’s also the fact that she did something similar in the recent past.

Ben & Jerry’s pulled out of Israel to support the BDS movement in 2021 and at the time Lara mocked supporters of Israel who launched their own boycott of the company.

With robbery, domestic assault and aggravated assault all up, year-to-date, in the city compared to a year ago, it seems like there might be more pressing concerns for a Boston city councilor.

But just like Americans are seeing at the national level, even while problems pile up and everyday Americans struggle to make ends meet, nothing animates leftist politicians like a blind focus on ideology.
