Democrat strongholds have major problems.
Rising crime is at the top of the list.
And a criminal boasted about getting out of jail because of one radical law.
Far-left “Defund the Police” advocates and prosecutors bankrolled by George Soros have worked together to implement pro-crime policies across the country.
The results have been spikes in violent crime and rises in property crime.
Yet repeat criminals are being allowed back on the street in the name of criminal justice reform.
And one criminal said that he would be released from jail soon because of a new law in Illinois.
According to the statute, the Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity-Today (SAFE-T) Act “enacts extensive reform impacting many areas of the criminal justice system, including pre-arrest diversion, policing, pretrial, sentencing, and corrections.”
For instance, the SAFE-T Act abolishes cash bail.
That’s why Erik U. Chandler, Jr. was back on the streets after allegedly fleeing from the cops with a child in the car, and crashing into a police vehicle.
Chandler was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of fleeing a peace officer, one count of resisting, and one count of child endangerment.
Despite all of that, Chandler was not too concerned because of the SAFE-T Act.
Fox 32 Chicago reported that when “Chandler was taken into custody, he allegedly told a woman who was waiting for him that he would get out soon and referenced the SAFE-T Act. Initially, Chandler was detained but then was later released.”
Pro-crime policies have completely changed the incentives for criminal behavior.
Criminals know that they will be back on the street in no time, even for serious offenses.
Every city with a far-left Soros DA is experiencing this problem.
Even some leftists are questioning these policies.
Far-left former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio lamented the fact that cashless bail had led to higher rates of recidivism.
De Blasio said, “It sort of stands out like a sore thumb that this is the single biggest new thing in the equation and we saw an extraordinary jump…Of course there’s always a possibility this is plain statistical variation, that happens sometimes…But I think it’s pretty clear that there’s only one new major piece in the equation.”
During the George Floyd riots of 2020, Black Lives Matter activists protested, rioted, and looted, and they were placated with laws like the SAFE-T Act.
But the people who are suffering are law-abiding citizens.
