Most Americans at this point are well aware of the crime spike that plagues most urban communities across the nation.
More law-abiding citizens are trying their best to take precautionary measures to avoid becoming victims, yet criminals are always looking to be one step ahead.
But now Bill Gates is sputtering for answers as Seattle sits on edge.
Seattle has become an epicenter for America’s crime wave
Out of control crime has completely overwhelmed many American cities, and this is especially true for Seattle, Washington.
This crime has spilt over into the many communities which surround Seattle, including the town of Renton, Washington.
In Renton, Washington, police have warned citizens that criminals are using a tactic that involves purposefully crashing into somebody, only to carjack them once they exit their vehicle.
More specifically, Renton Police Detective Robert Onishi told Seattle’s K5 that, “We see this kind of thing periodically, once every year or two we’ll have a similar occurrence there where there’s some kind of ruse to get somebody to stop and then they’re robbed at gunpoint.”
These comments come after an incident occured at a local Wal-Mart last week where a group of thieves ambushed an individual after they rammed into the victim’s car.
In nearby Seattle, situations have occured like this throughout the year, causing many drivers to live in a state of fear.
Although Washington State law says that participants in an accident must exchange information, Onishi says that this must be done in a safe place.
Onishi went on stat that “If you’re in a collision with somebody and it’s not in a good place, if it’s dark or suspicious or just doesn’t feel right, you can fulfill that obligation by maybe driving to a brighter place, maybe better populated, maybe the police station, call 911 and say I was just in this collision but I’m nervous because of this circumstance.”
The ever evolving nature of crime has put a strain on citizens and law enforcement
As officer Onishi pointed out to the press, criminals are constantly changing their methods.
For many citizens and law enforcement officers, this makes everyday life much more stressful.
It should come as no surprise that Seattle and its neighboring communities have seen a mass exodus of businesses and families, who cannot afford such constant victimization.
In Seattle alone, Nike, Starbucks, and Walmart have all announced store closures after years of rampant theft and destruction.
Until Seattle’s crime problem is properly addressed, then it is reasonable to believe that even more businesses and individuals will leave the area.
