Joe Biden has littered his administration with radical leftists, and he has supported some truly crazy ideas, but even Biden has his limits.
The hard-left Washington, D.C. City Council passed pro-crime policies—such as reducing the punishment for carjacking—that were too far even for Mayor Murriel Bowser.
Mayor Bowser vetoed the pro-crime policies, but the D.C. City Council overrode her veto.
Because laws enacted by the District of Columbia are subject to federal oversight, Congress has the opportunity to override the D.C. City Council via a resolution of disapproval passed in both chambers.

When House Republicans introduced just such a resolution and forced it to the floor for a vote.
President Biden came out in support of the D.C. Council’s pro-crime policy urging Democrats to vote against the GOP resolution.
But now Biden has reversed course after Senate Democrat Joe Manchin said he opposed the D.C. Council bill.
President Biden now says that he will sign Congressional Republicans’ resolution to nix the bill if it gets through the Senate.
As violent crime in Washington, D.C. is up, Biden is attempting to carve out a law-and-order niche to counter the damaging “defund the police” rhetoric of his left flank.
Biden said on Twitter, “I don’t support some of the changes D.C. Council put forward over the Mayor’s objections – such as lowering penalties for carjackings…If the Senate votes to overturn what D.C. Council did – I’ll sign it.”
One would think that such a move is a slam dunk, but this just shows how radical the Democrats have become.
It’s hard to imagine that D.C. citizens are prioritizing carjackers getting lighter sentences, but apparently that’s item one for the far-left Democrats.
One House Democrat told the Hill, “The White House f*cking this up royally…So a lot of us who are allies voted no in order to support what the White House wanted. And now we are being hung out to dry…F****** AMATEUR HOUR. HEADS SHOULD ROLL OVER AT THE WHITE HOUSE OVER THIS.”
This is a truly astonishing statement.
“Heads should roll” because Biden back-tracked on supporting pro-crime policies when crime is up.
The push for reduced sentences for carjacking is even more galling considering the murder of Uber driver Mohammad Anwar, who was killed by two teenage girls during a carjacking.
There have already been at least 94 carjackings in D.C. in 2023, and March just started.
And the Democrats’ response is to incentivize more carjackings.
The Left have gone insane in pursuit of pro-crime policies.
It doesn’t make sense, but in deep-blue areas, the craziest ideas win.
In response, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, “One thing that the president believes in is making sure that the streets in America and communities across the country are safe, that includes in D.C. That does not change.”
This is Biden’s attempt to run again in 2024.
