Given the astronomical rise in crime over the past couple of years, now may be one of the riskiest times to open a small business.
This is especially true in most of America’s major cities where theft is effectively being legalized.
And one small business owner in this liberal mecca learned the hard way that small businesses are no longer welcome there.
Ever since the race riots in 2020, American cities have descended into chaos.
Not only is violent crime through the roof, but crimes such as theft and shoplifting are also reaching sky-high rates.
The predominant reason for this rise in crime is that many cities across the nation have effectively legalized crimes like these.
Even in places that still have penalties for shoplifters, it is virtually impossible to charge them or keep them in prison for any serious amount of time.
One city that has gained a lot of attention for its particularly lenient laws is none other than San Francisco.
This is sadly unsurprising.
For decades, San Francisco has been at the forefront of brain dead far-left politics and public policy.
But one of the dumbest policies they have passed was a law that effectively made it legal to shoplift as long as the items are worth under $600.
This was a major overreaction to the complete overhaul of criminal justice following the riots of 2020.
As a result, shoplifting has gotten out of control in the City by the Bay.
Almost every day you can see new videos of scumbags loading up trash bags full of merchandise.
San Francisco seems to be unbothered by these crimes, and the truth is, there has never been a more dangerous time to open a small business in San Francisco.
To add insult to injury, one small business owner in San Francisco just got fined for the most insane reason ever.
In an effort to make the street more visible in order to prevent more shopliftings, a bakery owner cut back some limbs on a tree right outside of her property.
And in no time, this small business owner got a fine from the city of San Francisco for a whopping $4,500.
What a disgrace.
Only in San Francisco can criminals run wild without any fear of prosecution, meanwhile small business owners are treated like criminals for trimming some tree limbs.
If San Francisco does not stop these insane actions against business, then there will be no more businesses to pay for their radical social justice programs.
No wonder California is dying.
